About EXP

We are an engineering consulting firm working on infrastructure and industrial projects in northeastern Ontario. Our team works closely with municipal and private clients, designing projects and supporting the procurement process. Our New Liskeard office is home to a dedicated group of 8 engineers/project managers and 25 employees. Our office has a range of staff including CAD draft persons, Civil and Mechanical Engineers, Surveyors, Technicians and Technologists, and support staff.
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

·         Create and review detailed mechanical drawings and 3D models using CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD).

·         Develop specifications and perform basic engineering calculations (loads, tolerances, thermal, stress) within technologist scope.

·         Coordinate with engineers, contractors, vendors, and fabrication teams to align design and production.

·         Prepare and maintain documentation: BOMs, schematics, test reports, manuals.

·         Oversee prototypes, support testing, and implement design modifications based on results.

·         Conduct inspections and quality checks; ensure compliance with codes, standards, and safety requirements.

·         Provide on-site support for installations, commissioning, troubleshooting, and equipment assessments.

·         Mentor junior technologists and provide technical guidance.

·         Manage multiple projects and deadlines; communicate effectively with clients and team members.

·         Apply knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, fluid systems, rotating equipment, manufacturing processes) and QA/QC practices.

Qualifications:

• Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma (3-year preferred).
• Certification: CET or equivalent (OACETT membership preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and multidisciplinary projects.
• Advanced CAD proficiency: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor (Revit an asset).
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, fluid systems, rotating equipment, manufacturing processes).
• Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and interpret design standards.
• Experience with QA/QC practices, fabrication, and construction environments.
• Hands-on aptitude for installations, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to mentor junior staff.
• Project coordination experience: managing multiple deadlines and vendor interactions.
• Field experience: inspections, measurements, and equipment assessments.
