We are an engineering consulting firm working on infrastructure and industrial projects in northeastern Ontario. Our team works closely with municipal and private clients, designing projects and supporting the procurement process. Our New Liskeard office is home to a dedicated group of 8 engineers/project managers and 25 employees. Our office has a range of staff including CAD draft persons, Civil and Mechanical Engineers, Surveyors, Technicians and Technologists, and support staff.
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

·         Lead mechanical system design (HVAC, piping, machinery) and oversee advanced equipment selection.

·         Perform and approve complex engineering calculations (loads, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics) ensuring compliance with ASME, CSA, NFPA, and local codes.

·         Prepare and review technical documents: specifications, design briefs, reports, risk assessments, and sequences of operation.

·         Develop scope of work and basis of design; ensure accurate documentation through all project phases.

·         Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and manage vendor interactions for technical requirements.

·         Review and stamp drawings and specifications; conduct QA/QC and mentor design staff.

·         Manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules, applying risk management and monitoring deliverables.

·         Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and troubleshoot issues during design and construction.

·         Oversee installation, commissioning, and field investigations; provide technical guidance to junior staff.

·         Apply advanced system concepts (psychrometrics, hydronic and air-side systems, energy principles).

·         Communicate effectively with clients to define requirements and ensure project milestones are met.

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).

·         Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or eligible for licensure within a short timeframe.

·         10+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience (5+ acceptable for senior level).

·         Strong proficiency in mechanical system design and related software:

o   AutoCAD (mandatory)

o   Revit, SolidWorks, and simulation/FEA tools (asset)

o   MS Office (Word, Excel) and MS Project for project management.

·         Experience in preliminary and detailed design for heavy industrial and/or municipal infrastructure projects.

·         Thorough knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, CSA, NFPA, local building/mechanical codes).

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to perform advanced calculations (loads, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics).

·         Leadership and team management skills: ability to mentor junior staff, lead multidisciplinary coordination (MEP/FP, Arch, Civil, Structural), and manage client relationships.

·         Project management experience: creating and managing scopes, budgets, schedules, and delivering projects on time.

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
