Principals - Vice Principals Pool                           

Location:                North, Central and South regions

 

 District School Board Ontario North East invites internal and external Teachers and Vice-Principals who are interested in becoming a Vice-Principal and/or Principal to apply for our selection process.                    

 We are looking for leaders who care deeply about students and staff and who will excel in their role in serving in others.

 Candidates who are successful in the selection process will be placed in a pool for placement considerations in the three regions: North, Central and South. Candidates will be asked to indicate their preference for specific regions.

 

 APPLICATION PROCESS:

 Interested applicants are required to submit all the following information:

  • Cover letter and resume;
  • One page description of how you are successfully leading learning in your school. Be sure to highlight the following:
    • The three priorities of the Strategic Plan (2025-2029) and how you have implemented them.
  • Copy of your 2025-2026 Ontario College of Teachers’ Certificate of Qualifications;
  • Reference contact information for four (4) administrative references, one of whom must be your current supervisor and two of whom must hold leadership positions.

 

Evaluation Criteria: Vice-Principals

 Cover letter and resume:

 Developing the Organization to support Desired Practices

  • Building collaborative cultures and distributing leadership
    • Model collaboration in their own work

 Improving the Instructional Program

  • Providing instructional support
    • Participate with staff in instructional improvement work

 References:

 Building Relationships and Developing People

  • Building trusting relationships with and among staff, students, and parents
    • Model responsibility, integrity, and thoroughness in carrying out tasks

 Securing Accountability

  • Building staff members’ sense of internal accountability
    • Promote collective responsibility and accountability for student achievement and well-being

 

Evaluation Criteria: Principals

 Cover letter and resume:

 Developing the Organization to Support Desired Practices

  • Building productive relationships with families and the community
    • Create a school environment in which parents are welcomed, respected, and valued as partners in their children’s learning

 Improving the Instructional Program

  • Monitoring progress in student learning and school improvement
    • Assist staff in understanding the importance of student assessment for, of, and as learning

 References:

 Setting Directions

  • Building a shared vision
    • Build understanding of the specific implications of the school’s vision for its program and the nature of classroom instruction

 Building Relationships and Developing People

  • Modeling the school’s values and practices
    • Demonstrate the importance of continuous learning through visible engagement in their own professional learning
