Community Health Representative
Full Time - One Year (12 Month) Contract- With possibility of extension
(Beaverhouse Band Members and Indigenous Persons will be given priority)
Beaverhouse First Nation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Health Representative
to join our team. The CHR will play a vital role in developing and delivering culturally
appropriate health and wellness programs that support families, children, and overall community
well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinating and facilitating family, child, and health programs
• Promoting healthy child development, organize playgroups and family wellness programs
• Working with health staff, Elders, and community partners
• Connecting community members with appropriate health or social services
• Providing health education and promotion on topics such as nutrition, parenting, and healthy
lifestyle.
• Act as a liaison between Beaverhouse First Nation members and health professionals
• Maintaining client records, preparing reports, and documenting program activities
• Assisting with health clinics, screenings, and community wellness activities
• Coordinating and delivering community-based health workshops and events
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 1-2 years of education or experience in Early Childhood, Social Work, Public Health, or
related field
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of health promotion and prevention strategies
• Experience working with children and families
Assets
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Experience working in a First Nation community or with Indigenous organization
• MS Office, email, and basic database/reporting tools are often required
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive health information
• Ability to work collaboratively with health staff and community partners
• Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
• Valid First Aid/CPR
