Salary Range: $63,832 - $79,501
Expected Hours: 35 hrs / week

POSITION SUMMARY: As a Public Health Inspector, you will be involved in the promotion and enforcement of recognized public health standards, regulations and policies within the service area of the Timiskaming Health Unit.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete inspections, investigations, case management and follow up to ensure regulations/acts and Ontario Public Health Standards (OPHS) are in compliance for Food Safety, Safe Water, Health Hazards, Healthy Environments & Climate Change, and Infection Prevention & Control. 
• Perform technical assessments; 
• Provide consultative and educational services; 
• Ensure compliance with environmental health legislation, policy and standards, as well as local board of health policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada); 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; 
• Knowledge of Health Protection and Promotion Act and related regulations; 
• Knowledge of Epidemiology and Community Health; 
• Knowledge and experience in Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC); 
• Strong interpersonal skills including community planning, partnership and coalition building, organizational and problem-solving skills; 
• Proficiency in both official languages is an asset; 
• Required to comply with the Health Unit’s immunization policies, which requires vaccination against COVID-19 unless valid medical exemption is provided; 
• Transportation to meet programming needs, travel throughout the entire district will be required; • Working knowledge of computer software including databases.
