Public Health Promoter, Full-Time, Permanent, 35 Hours, New Liskeard
The Timiskaming Health Unit is seeking a highly motivated individual with interest in using a comprehensive population health promotion approach to preventing chronic disease, injury and substance use. The individual will be expected to apply knowledge of population health promotion and policy development in working with a variety of stakeholders and settings. Key responsibilities include: evidence?based planning, participating in research reviews and community assessments, mobilizing, supporting and working with community partners to promote health and health equity, facilitating knowledge exchange, coordinating initiatives, delivering public health services/programs and participating in program evaluation and reporting as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in a health related field or a concentration in health promotion, Masters Degree in
Public Health or other related field considered an asset. Equivalent combination of education and
experience may be considered;
Knowledge of: public health programming, population?based health promotion strategies and social
Established skills in program and policy planning, implementation & evaluation;
Demonstrated partnership, collaboration, advocacy and socio?cultural competencies;
Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills;
Willingness to work flexible hours to meet program requirements;
Fluency in English and French is essential.
